Indulge in the culinary pleasures of the recipes of our ancestors, which we have passed down to the present day.

Shepherd's dishes are present in the entire Alpine area, although they differ slightly from place to place. They definitely include masunjek with sour milk, stew with buckwheat brandy, žlinkorfi, roasted lamb, all kinds of cheeses and cheese spreads, as well as cured meat products.

This traditional peasant dish is made of sautéed buckwheat flour. Once dressed with cracklings, it can be served with sour milk or yoghurt but it also goes well with sauerkraut as well as various soups and stews.

POSMODULA

An old Slovenian dish typical of the Preddvor area, posmodula was made by housewives while baking bread. They rolled out a small loaf of dough, coated it with cottage cheese or minced lard and baked it quickly in the brick oven.

Masovnik is a traditional alpine dairy farm dish made of wheat, buckwheat or corn flour cooked in hot cream. It is served as a side dish to accompany spoonbread, or it can be spread on a piece of bread.

Mildly piquant mature quark cheese. Sirnek is great with black bread and apples. It also goes well with cured meat.

This cream cake comes from the Ursuline Convent in Mekinje which offered individual cooking classes to the well-off local girls who inevitably introduced some dishes to the countryside beyond the convent walls.

Ubrnenik is a peasant dish made of sautéed buckwheat or wheat flour, soaked in salted milk containing butter and cream. It is served with sour milk or café latte.

Mohovt is a cottage cheese spread jazzed up with cream, salt and cumin. It is also served as a side dish to accompany cured meats.
