Water is a treasure! The Kamnik-Savinja Alps are a natural water tower, providing high-quality water to the surrounding residents.. As part of the Water Trails Network in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps project, experts conducted multiple physical-chemical, microbiological, and biological analyses of 55 water sources. To raise awareness among locals about our water wealth, and to encourage visitors to appreciate it as well, the circular Kamnik-Savinja Alps Water Trail was designed. This long-distance hiking trail runs along rivers, lakes, springs, and waterfalls. It winds from the Kamniška Bistrica Valley under Krvavec, through the valley to Lake Črnava in Preddvor, and along the old freight route to the mountaineering village of Jezersko. On the Austrian side, it descends into Belska Kočna and through the Pavlič Pass into the Logar Valley. Among the springs in Podolševa, it leads us to the Savinja River and meanders along it to Luče. It reveals the water world of Podvolovljek and takes us under Velika Planina, across Kranjski Rak to Stahovica. An additional stage allows access on foot or by bike from Ljubno ob Savinji past mountain farms to the mountaineering village of Luče.
The Water Trails of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps lead through springs of high-quality drinking water along existing paths and offer a variety of attractions. Enjoy wandering among springs, streams, waterfalls, lakes, and rivers to feel the richness of the waters of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Draw pure, clear water directly from the source and listen to the water stories that reveal the secrets of the area.
