Cerklje na Gorenjskem

Just a stone’s throw away from the airport, this town represents the first contact with Slovenia and its green alpine landscape.

Lying at the juncture of the Ljubljana basin and Kamnik-Savinja Alps, Cerklje na Gorenjskem is the starting point of numerous hiking and biking trails. In addition to visiting places of worship, such as the former Dominican convent in Adergas and the Church of the Assumption of Mary in the center of the town, you can also stop by the Beekeeping Farm Museum, to learn about the evolution of beekeeping. A multiple recipient of the award for the most beautiful and hospitable municipality in Slovenia, Cerklje na Gorenjskem was also voted as the town with the best quality of life in 2018.

Krvavec is a mountain in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps located only 25 kilometers outside of Ljubljana, and best known for its ski resort.

It is accessible by cable car and has around 26 kilometers of ski trails and 13 ski lifts. Krvavec has a wide offering, ranging from ski school to backcountry skiing and night sledding. You can rent all the equipment for your favorite winter activity at the Krvavec Ski service center.

Krvavec also offers a plethora of activities in summertime.

Visit the adventure park in the forest and enjoy the adrenaline obstacle course. Its varying levels of difficulty make it fun for the whole family. Visitors of all ages can take on a climbing tower, slide on an inner tube or play frisbee golf. Krvavec is also a popular hiking and biking destination, boasting one of Europe’s top bike parks.

Shrouded in mystery, Strmol Castle is one of the oldest preserved specimens in Slovenia and among the most beautiful for weddings.

You will be immediately enchanted by its romantic appearance and its beautiful landscaping. Named after its first owners, the Strmol family, it is one of the few castles to retain a Slovenian name. Carefully selected prewar furniture, works of art and other invaluable objects found at every step tell the stories of the past, while creating a pleasant ambient.

Just outside of Cerklje na Gorenjskem lies a culinary center run by one of the most renowned hosts of the MasterChef cooking show, Luka Jezeršek.
