Lu\u010de lies in the shadow of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, along the upper part of the Savinja River.<\/h4>\n\t

Its location, at the juncture of the Alps and its foothills, makes it geologically very diverse, with a steep limestone world in the north and inhabitable undulating hills in the south. Almost half of the municipality is part of the Natura 2000 natural reserve. Its center is confined to the settlement around St. Lawrence church and is only a kilometer away from Ethno Village Lu\u010de, an open museum of old crafts. In 2019, Lu\u010de became the second Slovenian town to join the international network of Mountaineering Villages, a testimony to their effort to elevate tourism in a sustainable way.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

Take a walk or go for a bike ride along its banks, where you can cool off in the hot summer days, try out fly fishing or take on its lively character on a raft or kayak. Upstream, the river is typically Alpine, presenting with numerous falls and rapids. You can also brave its natural water slide on a canyoning trip led by an experienced instructor.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

Mount Raduha, the highest mountain in the eastern part of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, can be reached via numerous marked trails.<\/h4>\n\t

Contrary to its steep and rocky face in the north, the southern side, which is lush with forests and grass, gradually descends toward Lu\u010de. The views from the top are extraordinary, thanks to its secluded position. The northern slopes are interesting for climbers, while off-piste skiing is reserved for those with good equipment and a good understanding of snow conditions.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Snow Cave is the highest-lying cave in Slovenia open to visitors. It is located on the southwestern slope of Raduha at 1,556 meters above sea level.<\/h4>\n\t

The cave went undiscovered for a long time, due to permanent snow cover that hid the entrance underneath. It is more than 1,300 meters long, of which more than 800 meters are accessible to visitors. Exploring its beauty, moon milk formations, icy sculptures and decorative dripstones with your own carbide lamp makes this guided visit an unforgettable experience.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

Named after the mountain, Raduha House is one of the must-see sights in Lu\u010de.<\/h4>\n\t

While the Breznik family serves up excellent meals, it is a special treat to spend a night in one of the tree houses, hayracks or renovated barns. Homemade delicacies from local producers make the 4 or 7-course dinners a rare treat indeed. Having opened its doors in 1875, the house is located in the old center of Lu\u010de, with the Savinja River running past its garden.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t
